A powerful system of storms and tornadoes tore through more than 7 states and killed at least 39 people on Friday, March 2, 2012. Just days before deadly storms ripped across the Midwest killing 12 others. For each person taken by these storms, dozens more have been severely injured or left homeless.

Some of the hardest hit towns from these tornadoes are mere minutes from my hometown in New Albany, Ind. Towns like Marysville and Henryville suffered extreme damage — with mangled cars, destroyed houses and leveled forests. Henryville High School was completely destroyed, and the second level was ripped away from the middle school. It was a miracle from God that all children still in the school survived with only minor injuries.

I’m going to be finding as many ways as I can to comfort and ease the burden of those affected by this terrible disaster.

Please join me to find at least one way to support these grieving communities.

1. Take two minutes to pray Psalm 5:11-12 for all families affected by the disaster.
2. Donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund online or by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
3. Give blood in the next week and help hospitals overcome the shortage they were already experiencing.
4. As you’re spring-cleaning this month, donate any clothes you haven’t worn in six months to your local Salvation Army Thrift Store.
5. Contact Clark County Red Cross at 812-283-8416 if you are interested in volunteering at the site.
